Jose Miguel Martín was born in Valladolid, Spain. He received his PhD working in liquid crystals and non-linear optic materials with Prof. Pablo Espinet and Prof. Silverio Coco at the Universidad de Valladolid in 1996. After a postdoctoral stay with John Gladysz at the University of Utah in 1998 he returned to Valladolid as Assistant Professor. He obtained an Associate Professor position at the Universidad de Valladolid in 2001 and joined Prof. Daniel Miguel’s group in 2005. His research interests include the synthesis of new materials with improved properties, x-ray diffraction determination of new structures, and theoretical calculations.
